S. Scott Marcum is the latest to throw his hat in the ring for the open McCracken District Judge seat.

According to a release, Marcum has been practicing law in Paducah for almost 20 years. He is a partner in the firm Marcum Tennyson, PLLC. Marcum cites his handling of the types of cases that usually appear in district court as a measure of his experience and qualification for the seat on the bench.

Marcum said, "I am excited about the opportunity to put my diverse experience to work for the people of McCracken County. I intend to treat everyone who comes into district court with dignity and respect and to handle their cases with fairness and justice."

Marcum is a graduate of Centre College and the University of Kentucky College of Law. He and his wife Julie Tennyson have 2 children.

Attorney Jenny Hines, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney James Mills, and Assistant McCracken County Attorney Craig Newbern, Jr have already announced their candidacy for the seat.

The seat on the district bench opened up with the unfortunate passing of Judge Chris Hollowell.
