A man was arrested in Grand Rivers on Sunday after he broke into a home and got caught by the owner.

The owner arrived at her J.H. O’Bryan Avenue home to find a man inside who did not belong there. The woman called the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, and by the time deputies arrived, the man, later identified as 58-year-old Thomas Woodruff, had fled the scene with items allegedly taken from the residence.

The investigation led the deputies to Woodruff, and he was arrested on charges of burglary and criminal trespassing.

Deputies also discovered that Woodruff was out on bond from another Livingston County burglary charge. They also said Woodruff has two prior burglary convictions dating back to 2018.
