Madisonville manufacturer expanding operations

A longtime Madisonville manufacturer is expanding operations in Hopkins County.

Ahlstrom has invested an additional $68 million at its Madisonville facility and held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday. The company is a maker of fiber-based specialty products and has created an additional 50 new jobs.
The new line will produce substrates for several types of luxury vinyl flooring. The company said the material can also be used in thermoplastic molding solutions for the auto industry, as well as building panels and energy storage. 

The new jobs will be in addition to the 133 already employed by Ahlstrom in Madisonville. Ahlstrom has been in Madisonville since 1974.
