Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in McCracken County.

Authorities responded to Western Baptist Hospital Saturday after a man arrived with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Robert N. Scott of Paducah, had been shot near the intersection of Rosewood and Old Mayfield Road. He was flown to an out-of-state hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office identified 35-year-old Jeremiah Brinson as the suspect. Brinson was arrested without incident Monday afternoon while leaving a home on Old Mayfield Road. Deputies said they found him in possession of a stolen, loaded 9mm handgun and a small amount of cocaine.

In a search of the home, deputies found a second loaded handgun, cocaine and fentanyl pills. Two additional individuals, 44-year-old Clinton L. Brewer and 23-year-old Zoey Smith, were arrested during the search.

Brewer, a convicted felon previously paroled from a life sentence for murder and robbery, and Brinson are both legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

Brinson was charged with assault, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a felon and firearm-enhanced possession of cocaine.

Brewer was charged with firearm-enhanced trafficking in cocaine and possession of a handgun by a felon.

Smith was charged with possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
