We still have a dangerously cold weekend to contend with, but the long term forecast is giving us some warmer temperatures in time for Christmas week.
NOAA's 8-to-14 day outlook finally sees Arctic air moving out of the U.S. and most of the nation, including the Ohio Valley, putting together a string of some warmer than normal temperatures.
For the period of Dec. 19-25, the region with the largest margin above normal covers the southern third of the U.S. and includes our quad state. Above normal temeperatures will extend expands northward to include parts of Minnesota Wisconsin and Michigan;
Paducah's historical normal high temperature on Christmas week is 47 degrees.
