Livingston County Schools Superintendent Dr. David Meinschein is being honored for his work with a committee looking at public policy to address teacher shortages in Kentucky.

Dr. Meinschein has been announced as a winner of the William T. Nallia Educational Leadership Award. The award is given annually by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators to recognize leaders and their impact on Kentucky's public education system. Meinschein is joined in honor this year by Hardin County Schools Superintendent Terrie Morgan and Baird Vice Chair Jim Allen from Louisville.

Meinschein and Morgan co-chaired the Coalition to Sustain the Education Profession. They along with Allen have worked to highlight the shortage of teachers in Kentucky and looked at ways that public policy could address the situation assisting in the recruitment and retention of teachers. Meinschein and Morgan helped to produce a report with seventeen proposals for legislators, who have put some of those ideas into action during recent sessions.

Allen has used his position to build a bridge between the education community and business. He has worked to show that a better educational system is a key driver to a better economy.

Dr. Meinschein came to Livingston County Schools from the Ballard County system. He has his doctorate from Murray State University, where he currently sits on the Board of Regents.
