U.S. Coast Guard personnel, along with representatives from local, county and state law enforcement agencies, conducted a series of law enforcement drills on the Ohio River in and around the Port of Paducah on Wednesday.
The multiple agency responder boats were seen displaying flashing lights as they operated near a towing vessel pushing barges on the river. Their crews combined to learn and rehearse a wide range of boat tactics and emergency response procedures, including an active shooter drill.
Agencies scheduled to participate in the training exercise included the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Paducah Fire and Police, the Cape Girardeau Police SWAT team, McCracken County and Paducah Emergency Management, and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
The towboat and barges were provided by Ingram Barge Company.
