A Las Vegas man was arrested Tuesday in McCracken County on drug trafficking charges, following a traffic stop.
Detectives were watching a hotel on Cairo Road, when a vehicle suspected of being involved in drug activity was spotted leaving the scene. The vehicle was pulled over and deputies discovered the driver, 31-year-old Joseph Smith of Las Vegas did not have a valid driver's license or insurance. Deputies alleged they could smell and see marijuana in the car.
A search reportedly uncovered over two pounds of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, around 1,000 ecstasy pills, and suboxone strips.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, Smith has an extensive criminal record involving trafficking and firearm offenses.
Smith was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, heroin, ecstasy, and suboxone, possession of marijuana, and traffic offenses.
He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
