The Kentucky Lake Economic Development board has hired a new president to lead economic growth efforts in Marshall County.
A nationwide search led the group to Elizabeth Griffith Mudd, who has been the director of existing industry and workforce development for the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation.
Mudd is a native of Owensboro and has degrees from Kentucky Wesleyan and Western Kentucky University.
Jason Jones, Kentucky Lake Economic Development board chair said, “I was impressed with Elizabeth’s portfolio of past projects and her knowledge of the area. The hiring committee could tell she had done her due diligence prior to the interview.”
Mudd has been working with businesses on retention and expansion, helped to develop workforce strategies, and assisted with the recruitment of new industries to Owensboro.
Mudd said, “I am honored and humbled to serve as the new President of Kentucky Lake Economic Development and can’t wait to get to work so we can continue to build upon the past successes of the organization.”
She added, “One of the best parts of working in economic development is getting to go to work every day to make a positive impact in your community. Marshall County has all the necessary resources to be highly competitive in the field of economic development and I am looking forward to working with all the community stakeholders that will help KLED move Marshall County forward into a bright future.”
The organization plans a reception to welcome Mudd in January.
