Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews made good progress on Wednesday to clear snow from state highways.
KYTC District 1 said that "A" Snow Priority Routes are in good condition. Sunshine yesterday helped to increase asphalt temperatures, enabling salt to do its work and accelerate snow melt.
Some of the lesser-traveled "B" and "C" routes still have snow cover and potential slick spots today, especially in shaded areas. Black ice is a travel problem after last night's refreezing on roads.
Even treated and plowed roads may still be slick during Thursday morning's commute.
