Southern Illinois parents charged with murder of infant son

A pair of young southern Illinois parents have been charged with the murder of their infant son.

Illinois State Police arrested 21-year-old Logan Hutchings and 21-year-old Sophia Kelly, both of Pinckneyville, for first degree murder after investigating how their 3-month old infant died from injuries last June.

The infant had been admitted to a hospital in St. Louis with a skull fracture and multiple rib fractures. Before arriving at the hospital, the infant had been in the care of Hutchings and Kelly, the infant’s parents. Last June 14, the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital, as a result of those injuries.  
 
On Tuesday, the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutors office charged both parents. Illinois State Police took Hutchings and Kelly into custody and transported them to the Washington County Jail with a $1 million bond.
