Interstate 24 in Lyon County continues to be restricted to one lane at the 41 mile marker where a sinkhole was discovered just off the shoulder of the roadway on Saturday.
KYTC engineers evaluated the sinkhole Monday morning. The Lyon County Highway maintenance crew excavated the site and found what they said appears to be a natural spring at the bottom of about a 12-foot deep hole. Most of the hole was then filled with concrete.
The lane restriction will remain in place to allow the concrete to cure, and the crew will place several layers of asphalt over the hole to rebuild the shoulder.
