Graves County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of US 45 South, at 6:34 AM on Sept. 15th, concerning a traffic collision with injuries involving a 2000 Ford minivan and a horse and buggy.

Thirty-four year-old Enos Hershberger, of Wingo, was northbound on US 45 South in the horse and buggy. Fifty-one-year-old Luis Jeronimo, of Pryorsburg, also was northbound on the same highway, driving in a 2000 Ford minivan.

Jeronimo failed to see the horse and buggy, which were illuminated with flashing lights and reflective tape. Jeronimo impacted the rear of the buggy. That impact destroyed the buggy and ejected Hershberger on to the roadway.

The horse was able to flee the accident scene and later was found approximately 2 miles south of the scene.

Hershberger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A friend of his stopped to render aid. The friend then transported Hershberger to the Jackson Purchase Medical Center Emergency Room.

Mayfield-Graves County Emergency Medical Services transported Jeronimo to the Jackson Purchase Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, it allegedly was discovered that Jeronimo was driving without a driver's license or automobile insurance. He was issued a citation concerning those charges.

Assisting the Graves County Sheriff’s Office were Mayfield / Graves County EMS, the Mayfield Police Department, the Kentucky State Police, and the Mayfield Veterinary Clinic. Some concerned citizens also stopped to render aid.
