Meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Paducah have posted more than once that no one in their office has seen rain like we have experienced this week.
But have we broken any records yet?
On Saturday morning, they posted a radar estimate of total rainfall for the region over the past three days.
Essentially the entire area has seen at least 5 to 8 inches, with a swath of 10 to 13 inch totals across western Kentucky.
Another 1 to 4 inches is expected today, with a localized band across Kentucky of up to another 6 inches possible. That could mean more than 16-inch totals are possible for some locations.
That also means the all-time highest 4-day rainfall record in our 58-county forecast area is in serious jeopardy. The record is 15.53 inches in Williamsville, Missouri back on August 13-16, 2016.
NWS staff will be able to confirm rain totals when they have time to review all of their rain gauges and instruments across the region in coming days.
