Groundbreaking postponed for new Mayfield fire station

The city of Mayfield said Wednesday that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Mayfield Fire Station 1 has been postponed until a later date.

Last week the city set the date for the ceremony to be Thursday, July 18 at the future site of the new facility on Kings Drive, just off the 121 Bypass in the north end of the city. 

The original fire station was destroyed, along with most downtown facilities, in the 2021 tornado.

Mayfield officials will publish a new invitation for the groundbreaking once the new date has been set.
