Nearly half a million dollars was awarded to benefit local law enforcement and nonprofits in Graves County on Wednesday.

Governor Andy Beshear presented $481,087 to entities in Graves County at the Purchase Area Development District.

Just over $30,000 will go toward the Graves County Sheriff's Office from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security through the Law Enforcement Protection Program.

Eight nonprofits received the majority of the funds, which were distributed by the Nonprofit Assistance Fund, designed to help organizations across Kentucky recover from the pandemic.

The Mayfield Graves County YMCA, New Pathways for Children, St. Jerome Parish of Fancy Farm, and St. Joseph's Parish of Mayfield each received $100,000; Purchase Players receved $20,000; Willow Apartments Group Home was awarded just over $15,000; Nearly $13,000 will go to CASA of Graves County and Southwest Kentucky; and The Salvation Army of Graves County gets $2,550.
