Golconda man arrested in connection to assault at Paducah Waffle Hut

A Golconda man was arrested in connection to an assault on a cook at the Waffle Hut on Cairo Road. 

Paducah Police put out a call for help locating a suspect in the case. Information from the public and the Pope County Sheriff's Department helped identify the alleged assailant as 41-year-old Michael Robbins of Golconda. 

Robbins was arrested on Friday and charged with strangulation.

On Jan. 19, police said the victim told them two customers inside the Waffle Hut were reportedly being disorderly and appeared intoxicated.

The cook said he told the two to be respectful of the other customers. The cook said one of the men came behind the counter and started choking him. The suspect also made threats to the victim.

Police said the two customers fled the scene in a green Geo Tracker with a black hard top and Illinois plates.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
