A fugitive is behind bars following his arrest in Lyon County Wednesday night.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a fugitive complaint on Green Road in the West end of the county.
As deputies surveilled a home the fugitive, 40-year-old Michael W. Overbaugh of Owensboro, appeared outside a door before seeing deputies and fleeing on foot.
During the foot chase over rugged terrain, deputies deployed a taser on Overbaugh where he then fell to the ground. Overbaugh reportedly failed to follow verbal commands and received additional deployments before he stopped resisting and was arrested without further incident.
Overbaugh was a parole absconder who previously entered guilty pleas to felony charges including trafficking in methamphetamine in Trigg Circuit Court in 2024, but became a fugitive after failing to report to court for sentencing.
Overbaugh was charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest, and warrants for failure to appear in court, and parole violations. In addition, he was charged on a theft related criminal summons from Daviess County.
