A crash at 28th and 24th Streets on Friday night injured two people, including a Paducah police officer.
A vehicle driven by 22-year-old Johnathan C. Holder of Cairo, allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with a police cruiser. Holder reportedly told investigators that he was chasing another vehicle when he ran the stop sign.
According to both drivers and a witness, Holder pulled into the path of the cruiser, driven by 26-year-old Officer Thomas Sheils, who was on the way to assist a McCracken County Constable. Their accounts of the accident was corroborated by the officer's in-car video.
Paducah Police asked the McCracken County Sheriff's office to investigate the crash. Deputies said they found marijuana and marijuana cigarettes in Holder's vehicle.
Officer Sheils was treated and released from Baptist Health Paducah. Holder was treated at Lourdes Hospital, and taken to McCracken County Regional Jail.
Holder was charged with DUI, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, no insurance, and disregarding a stop sign.
