A Trigg County grand jury returned an eight count indictment against former Murray Police detective Justin Swope Tuesday.

The Murray Sentinel reported the 44-year-old Swope of Almo had originally had three counts against him but five more were added.

Swope was indicted on one count of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16 involving an illegal sex act, three counts of third-degree sodomy, one count of third-degree rape and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

The original Trigg County case included two counts of rape and one count of sodomy. The indictment alleges all eight offenses occurred on or about May 28, 2019, when the alleged victim was 15 years old.

He also faces 30 charges involving the same victim in Calloway County.  Swope's bond is set at $1,000,000 in the two cases.

Swope will be arraigned in Trigg Circuit Court August 12th and will appear for a status hearing August 17th in Calloway County.
