Former US Congressman Carroll Hubbard has died at the age of 85.
A former Kentucky State Senator, Hubbard served in that position from 1967 until 1974 when he ran for and won his first bid to repesent Kentucky's First District in the U.S. Congress.
Hubbard served in Congress for 18 years, at one point during that time he mounted an unsuccessful primary challenge for governor in 1979.
After losing his bid for reelection in 1992, Hubbard pled guilty to violations of federal campaign finance laws, Hubbard served two years in prison from 1995 to 1997.
Hubbard was unsuccessful in attempts to seek election to the Kentucky Senate in 2006 and 2008. After changing his party affiliation to Republican from Democratic, he ran and lost to Republican incumbent Steven Rudy in the primary for the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2020.
