Monday night, the McCracken County Fiscal Court recognized Benny Heady for his 21 years of service on the West McCracken Water District Board.

Heady’s service came to an end at the Feb. 4 Fiscal Court Meeting, where they voted to dissolve the West McCracken Water District and merge it with Paducah Water.

Judge-Executive Craig Clymer said the court wanted to express their appreciation on behalf of the 68,000 people in McCracken County for his long years of service to the Water Board.

“I used to run behind those guys when they put that water line in on bicycles and playing on the dirt piles that they made,” said Heady. “And years later ended up working my way up to chairman of that board.”

He said for his almost 20 years of serving on the board. He has seen the low parts and thanks God for seeing the high parts and the merge was something that had to be done.
