A tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 24 in Trigg County kept the interstate closed for several hours beginning Tuesday afternoon.
Trigg County emergency personnel said the tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived between the 68 and 69 mile markers.
After the fire was extinguished, authorities had to work to remove ice that quickly froze to the road from the water used to fight the blaze.
KYTC crews dumped sand and ice-melting chemicals on the slick road. They said westbound traffic was restored around 9 p.m.
No report was released on the driver's identity or condition.
