Extreme heat will end this evening

One more day of extreme heat will give way to seasonal temperatures on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service continues an extreme heat warning today for most of the region. Heat index readings will once again peak around 115 degrees this afternoon.

Further to the northeast, a heat advisory is in effect with heat indices peaking at 105 today.

Better conditions are in sight for Wednesday and the rest of the week. Highs will be in the upper 80s, actually a bit below our average midsummer high of 90.

A chance for showers and thunderstorms will return on Friday night through the weekend.
