An extended lane restriction along U.S. 51 in Carlisle County to allow for the construction of a new bridge begins Tuesday.

The restriction will be in place near mile point 1.7, just north of Arlington. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with a temporary signal controlling alternating traffic flow, until the project is completed.

As part of the project, access to Railroad Street at its intersection with KY 877 and U.S. 51 will be closed.

During Phase 1, an 11.5-foot lane width restriction will also be in effect.
