Two Mayfield men, one an employee, have been arrested in connection with a burglary of a Dollar General in Graves County.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office was called on Monday morning after the discovery of a burglary at the store just north of Mayfield along US 45. The investigation revealed that cash and merchandise were reportedly taken during the overnight hours of Sunday night into Monday morning.

It also led them to a Mayfield motel where an employee, later identified as 32-year-old Anthony E. Lawrence of Mayfield, had rented a room. A warrant was obtained and a search of the room located merchandise and cash believed to have been taken from the store.

Deputies arrested Lawrence and charged him with burglary and theft. Lawrence is said to have had keys to the store, giving him access.

Investigators identified a second suspect, 20-year-old Jerimiah P. Thomas of Mayfield, who they believe was a driver for Lawrence during the commission of the crimes. When Thomas was located, he was also reportedly in possession of merchandise and cash believed to be from the store.

Thomas was arrested and charged with criminal facilitation to burglary and theft.

The two men were transported to an out-of-county detention center.
