A dog that fell through thin ice in Marshall County is dry, warm and safe thanks to community members and rescue crews.
The Marshall County Rescue Squad posted on Wednesday night that a dog fell through the ice at a local resort and could not get out of the frigid water on its own.
Rescue crews arrived to see that some local residents in a pontoon boat were already helping the dog by breaking up the ice so it could swim toward dry land.
The boaters were able to guide the dog to the boat dock to waiting Rescue Squad members.
The dog was brought to dry land and warmer conditions, and is expected to be okay.
