An investigation has led to the termination of a contract with the company hired to build the structure that will cover the Cadiz Farmer's Market.
Mayor Todd King told WKDZ that Bluegrass Construction and Contracting will no longer be involved with the "Put A Roof On It" project site in downtown Cadiz, after construction was plagued with issues.
A portion of the roof trusses had fallen in September, delaying the project that was originally scheduled to be completed in mid-October.
In early December, an unnamed man was working at the site when it collapsed again, trapping him in debris. The man was later flown to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.
King said an engineer investigated why the structure collapsed, and they reportedly learned the builder had not properly braced the trusses.
He said the project has not been canceled and leadership will meet again in the future to plan next steps.
