Reports of a collision in Benton on Wednesday ended with an arrest after a short pursuit.
First responders were dispatched to the intersection of 14th Street and Valley Road for a collision involving a flipped vehicle.
The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Nicholas J. Elam, was reported to be fleeing the scene.
When officers arrived, they said Elam was spotted running in a nearby corn field. After a short foot pursuit, he was arrested.
Officers said Elam began fighting with law enforcement before they learned the vehicle was stolen from Joe Creason Drive.
Elam was charged with fleeing or evading, leaving the scene, DUI, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, escape, receiving stolen property, assault, terroristic threatening, and contempt of court.
