The news of Zana Renfro's death on Tuesday was a shock to many in the community, and that's no different for McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer.
Clymer told West Kentucky Star that news of her passing was unexpected, and a terrible tragedy. He reflected on her service to the community and their friendship, saying she was an outstanding person.
"She was just an outstanding person, an outstanding personality. Her commitment and desire to help the community, and to help others individually was just outstanding." Clymer continued, "That's the kind of person you need to be in government."
Renfro served as a city commissioner from 1993 until 1998, then as a county commissioner from 1999 until 2014. Clymer called Renfro a great public servant, and spoke highly of her for spreading her talents across both the city and county.
"Zana was one of those people that when she walked in the room, she could just really capture the room through her personality, her smile. Some people you can just look at them and just get the feeling and tell that they're genuine," Clymer said. "They're not there with any preconcepts about what they could do for themselves. She was there to help others."
In closing, Clymer said she set a good example for everyone to follow.
