Calvert woman charged after dog bites child

A Calvert City woman will face charges after it was reported her dog bit a child.

Calvert police responded to the incident at the intersection of East 10th Avenue and Dogwood Street after a caller said his 10-year-old was riding a scooter in the area and was bitten on the arm by a dog.

Authorities reportedly determined the dog belonged to 29-year-old Shiana Coomer. She reportedly told officers the dog runs loose because it hasn't caused any issues.

In addition, she allegedly told police the dog had never seen a vet and had not been vaccinated against rabies.

Coomer was ultimately charged with harboring a vicious animal and dogs to be vaccinated against rabies.
