KYTC's McCracken County highway maintenance crew is now well into the demolition and replacement of old pavement in the Cairo Road and Olivet Church Road intersection just west of I-24 Exit 3.
Since Monday, the crew has been digging out the old asphalt pavement that had waffled due to the volume of semi traffic at the truck stop.
A concrete crew has now moved into the site to start installing forms to place a 10-inch layer of concrete in the intersection.
KY 305 & KY 998 will remain closed for approximately 28 days. Access to businesses around Exit 3 are being maintained, but drivers otherwise have to use Exit 4.
Once work at the intersection is completed, asphalt replacement will continue toward the I-24 westbound ramps, but two-way traffic will be restored during that phase of the $3 million project.
