A suspect sought in connection with the recent placement of obscene materials at churches in Lyon, Crittenden and Livingston counties was arrested.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office posted Saturday night that they found 44-year-old Larry "Derek" Loveless of Cadiz. Loveless had spoken in the past week with Lyon County Sheriff Brent White and had planned to turn himself in. However, Loveless did not do so.
Just after 8 pm Saturday, Lyon County deputies and Kentucky State Police stopped a vehicle operated by Loveless on KY 293. He was found in possession of an illegal firearm and methamphetamine.
Charges include distribution of obscene material, criminal trespassing, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance-firearm enhanced, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
On March 19, the Lyon County sheriff posted that obscene materials had been stuck into doors of various churches, as well as the Lyon County courthouse. Security camera footage from a rural Crittenden County church helped investigators identify the suspect.
Loveless was taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.
