According to The Hickman County Times, the building on Clay Street near the Hickman County courthouse collapsed as an older part of the hardware store was being taken down.
One person was reportedly taken from the scene in an ambulance. Part of the main hardware store appeared to be damaged after the unused part of the building collapsed.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said that a track hoe was used to remove some of the front portions of the collapsed building, and the street was reopened Tuesday evening.
Work will resume on the building's removal today.
