Buc-cee's to break ground on new travel center near Bowling Green

The famous mega-travel center Buc-ee's will break ground June 5 on a new location near Bowling Green.

Buc-ee's Smiths Grove is the second location in Kentucky. The first, Buc-ee's Richmond, opened in April of 2022.

The Smiths Grove store will occupy 53,000 square feet and offer 120 fueling positions.  A spokesperson said it will bring at least 200 jobs to the area, with pay above minimum wage, full benefits, matching 401k, and paid vacation.

More Buc-cees are planned for our region, including Tennessee stores in Clarksville, Murfreesboro and Sevierville. Their Crossville store was the first to open in Tennessee.

Founded in Texas in 1982, Buc-ee's now operates 45 stores. In 2019 the chain launched expansion plans in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Now, Buc-ee's is headed West with store groundbreakings in Colorado and Missouri.
