UPDATE TUESDAY:
A Paducah juvenile is now the fourth person arrested in connection with the weekend shooting incident near the Brickhouse nightclub.
Paducah detectives said that by following leads and interviewing witnesses, they identified a 16-year-old male that allegedly fired a handgun multiple times toward the area where the victims were standing.
On Monday afternoon, the Paducah Police SWAT team and detectives served a search warrant at a home in Paducah.
During the search, detectives said they found evidence and took the juvenile into custody. He was charged with three counts of first-degree assault.
While at the home, police said they also found a 14-year-old male with a juvenile pickup order wanted for first-degree robbery in an unrelated case.
Both juveniles were taken to the McCracken County Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.
UPDATE MONDAY:
A third person has been arrested, and charges have been increased for another in connection with the shooting outside The Brickhouse nightclub early Saturday morning.
Paducah Police have used video, interviews, and other leads to connect 18-year-old Malik Q. Copeland to the shooting. Detectives said Copeland fired a gun several times in the direction of the crowd, near where the victims had been standing. Copeland was arrested on Sunday by Paducah Police. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault.
New information has also raised the charges against 18-year-old Capus J. Adams of Murray. He is now also charged with one count of first-degree assault after previously being charged with wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and fleeing or evading police.
Paducah Police detectives said on Sunday that more than one person was shooting during the incident that took place at about 3 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived, they spotted a man, later identified as Adams, reportedly firing in the direction of a crowd. Adams took off on foot, but was arrested after a short chase. He is said to have tried to get rid of the gun while running away, but that was located, as well.
Detectives indicated that multiple videos of the incident and other tips have also been passed along to them. Some of that information was used to identify 20-year-old Jystacye D. Pitts of Union City. Pitts was arrested and also charged with wanton endangerment.
Three people were injured in the shooting. A 20-year-old woman is said to be on life support at an out-of-state hospital. A 23-year-old woman was listed in critical but stable condition at an out-of-state hospital. A third woman was treated and released from a local hospital.
UPDATE SUNDAY:
Officers and detectives worked through the weekend to collect evidence and arrest the individuals responsible for multiple shots fired on Paducah's north side.
Detectives confirmed three women were shot during the incident in the 900 block of Boyd Street.
A 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman were treated locally before being transported to an out-of-state hospital. Police said as of Sunday morning, the 20-year-old is currently on life support and the 23-year-old is listed in critical but stable condition.
The third woman, a 28-year -old, was treated at a local hospital and released.
Paducah Police detectives also determined that multiple people were shooting during the incident.
Detectives charged 20-year-old Jystacye D. Pitts of Union City with wanton endangerment after he admitted to firing a gun in a crowded area.
Eighteen-year-old Capus J. Adams of Murray was also charged after officers saw him shooting in the direction of several people. Adams fled on foot from officers, discarding the firearm during the pursuit. He was arrested after a brief chase and the weapon was recovered. Adams is charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading and tampering with physical evidence.
Detectives said they have received numerous tips and videos related to the incident. Anyone with more information or video is asked to contact detectives at the McCracken County Sheriff's office.
An update with additional information is expected to be provided on Monday.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Three people were shot in the wee hours of Saturday morning at a gathering on the north side of Paducah.
According to Paducah police, officers in the area of North 9th and Boyd Street near Brickhouse Discotheque heard multiple gun shots around 3:05 a.m.
About the same time, Paducah 911 began receiving multiple calls reporting a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene and found two people who had been shot. Additional officers observed a male suspect shooting a handgun, who fled as the officers arrived. The suspect was detained after a foot chase.
The two victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. A third victim arrived at the hospital by private vehicle a short time later.
Detectives ask anyone with information or possible video of the incident to contact Paducah police.
