A Caldwell District judge entered a not guilty plea for 42-year-old Byron Black during his arraignment on Wednesday.

Black is charged in the death of his wife, 42-year-old Kelly Black, whose body was found with a gunshot wound to the head in a Center Street residence on Sunday afternoon.

Byron Black is also accused of abducting his daughter, five-year-old Lela Black.

An AMBER alert was issued Monday morning and she was found a short time later and Byron Black was taken into custody.

Byron Black is being held on a $1 million bond in the Caldwell County Jail.

He will appear for a preliminary hearing on Monday morning.
