Governor Andy Beshear announced on Wednesday that he is declaring a state of emergency for the commonwealth, ahead of the major winter storm.
With the declaration, that activates Kentucky Emergency Management's State Emergency Operations Center. Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Kentucky National Guard, the Kentucky Department of Public Health and the Kentucky State Police will monitor the storm, together, streamlining interagency communications and operations.
Along with the emergency declaration, the Governor issued an executive order addressing price gouging. The order protects Kentuckians by activating the laws that attempt to prevent gouging. All instances of price gouging should be reported to the Office of the Attorney General.
Beshear also announced that due to the weather, state offices would be closed on Thursday.
