Benton Police are investigating reports of attempted thefts from vehicles over the last several days.

The first was reported early Sunday morning in the Heather Lane area where a caller reported the suspects had flashlights and were looking inside vehicles, and they were seen on home security cameras.

Pictures were posted to social media and showed at least two suspects running from yard to yard. Officers located the suspects vehicle, parked in a driveway, in this same area. The vehicle was unoccupied, and the suspects fled on foot before officers were on scene.

Although no items were reported stolen, officers believe the suspects were going car to car and checking the door handle, looking to steal from unlocked vehicles.

Tuesday night, officers received a complaint of suspicious activity on Shelby McCallum Drive. The incident involved two males in a white van with a ladder on top, going from house to house trying to solicit their home repair business.

There were concerns from residents that they may be "casing" houses. The two incidents are not connected and the investigations continue.
