Barkley Regional Airport will receive $3.1 million in federal funding for runway light improvements.

According to airport officials, the funding is included in the fiscal year 2026 transportation-housing and urban development appropriations bill, which passed the Senate and is headed to president to sign.

The the money will replace aging lighting systems and cabling.

The funding is part of more than $36 million allocated to Kentucky airports statewide.

Last week, the airport also took delivery of a new de-icer truck. The new unit has twice the capacity of the old de-icer which is several years old.
