The U.S. Geological Survey reports a small earthquake shook part of Southeast Missouri on Thursday afternoon.
The quake occurred at 4:32 p.m. and measured a magnatude 2.6 on the Richter Scale. The epicenter was about 23 miles south of Sikeston, and around 30 miles west northwest of Union City, near Howardsville, Missouri.
According to the USGS, a quake of 2.5 or higher is the threshold for humans to detect the ground shaking.
