As of Friday evening, all lanes on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Metropolis and Paducah were back open for traffic.
The reopening marks the completion of Phase 1 of the $38 million rehabilitation project on the interstate crossing. Phase 1 work included deck repairs, structural steel improvements, and joint replacements aimed at extending the life of the bridge.
Lane restrictions will return when Phase 2 begins on March 1.
The entire project of paving and repainting is planned over three consecutive construction seasons, wrapping up in the fall of 2027.
