A call about a possible fire at a home in Lyon County led to a homeless woman's arrest on numerous charges.

EMS and the Kuttawa Fire Department responded to the home on KY 810 North last week, where a half-naked woman reportedly refused to allow first responders to check the scene.

Law enforcement arrived soon after, and the woman, identified as 55-year-old Laurie A. Hefler, was found to have lived at the home previously, but no longer.

The owner, who wasn't present, gave law enforcement permission to enter the property to check things over. However, Hefler allegedly tried to physically prevent them from doing so.

The sheriff's office said Hefler resisted arrest then spit at an officer.

She was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest, and assault of an officer.

Authorities said the alarm system was intentionally damaged, along with the smoke detector. Other items were also out of place.

The investigation is ongoing.
