Extra patrols in a storm-damaged area of Graves County resulted in the arrest of 2 people from Alabama.

Deputies from Campbell County, assisting the Graves County Sheriff's Office, spotted a vehicle with Alabama plates in the Cardinal Road area that was full of items they suspected were stolen.

Deputies stopped the vehicle about 2:30pm Saturday to investigate, and the items were determined to have been from a residence on Pritchett Road that was destroyed by the tornado. The owner of the residence confirmed ownership of the items.

43-year-old David B. Hodges of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and 49-year-old Tamatha M. Thompson of Tuscumbia, Alabama were arrested. Hodges and Thompson, reportedly, admitted to the theft. A methamphetamine pipe was allegedly found on the Thompson's person, and she attempted to conceal it.

Hodges was charged with theft and criminal trespass. Thompson was charged with theft, criminal trespass, and possession of methamphetamine.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said neither person had any connection to Mayfield or Graves County. They were taken to out-of-county jails.
