Richard Abraham has formally launched his candidacy for McCracken County Judge-Executive, joining Matt Moore and the incumbent, Craig Clymer.

Abraham officially entered the race yesterday by filing the paperwork and making his announcement in a Facebook post. He noted in that post the basic qualifications for the office, which include being a United States citizen, 24 years old or above, and living within the county for a minimum of two years prior to serving. As a lifelong resident, he believes he understands the issues facing the community

Abraham told West Kentucky Star, “If I’m going to live in a city where five people make policy, I want to be one of those people because I know what I bring to the table. I’ve always had a common sense approach, plain talk approach to whatever issues we’re facing. It has served me well.”

Two others are in the race for Judge, including the sitting Judge-Executive Craig Clymer. Clymer is completing the third year of his second term and said in a statement that he wants to continue to achieve the type of positive accomplishments seen during the first two terms.

Clymer said, “I am honored to have the privilege of leading McCracken County as Judge Executive for the past seven years.  I respectfully request your vote for an additional term to continue our progress in making our great Community stronger still.”

The other candidate is another lifelong resident, local business owner Matt Moore. Moore ran against Clymer in 2022. He filed back on November 5th and said in the announcement that his top priorities are lowering taxes, supporting law enforcement, and ensuring economic prosperity. Moore indicated that he would bring his business sense and approach to the job with the goal of making McCracken County “the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
