The location of 615 acres of privately-owned land for the site was not disclosed.
The press release said the completed site could generate enough energy to power the equivalent of approximately 10,000 homes annually.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, and create 150 jobs during construction.
The project, named McCracken Solar, is being developed by AES, described on their website as a U.S.-based Fortune 500 energy company. They generate and distribute electricity in 15 countries through 450 renewable energy projects.
AES says the arrangement allows landowners to diversify income while keeping property in family ownership. At the end of the project’s operational life -- generally 25 to 30 years -- the land can be restored to pre-project conditions.

Our zoning requirements will assure that the project will situate well within our county landscape and provide landowners with lucrative opportunities for their land for decades.”
