Widespread hail and damaging winds were reported in at least two rounds of severe weather across the region on Sunday.

The National Weather Service office in Paducah received reports Sunday morning from southern Illinois and southeast Missouri, then that afternoon throughout western Kentucky.

The largest hail report came from the Brewers community in Marshall County, measured at 2 1/4 inches. Two-inch hail also occurred in Christian County south of Hopkinsville at Herndon.

Trigg County checked in with 1 1/4 inch hail, and up to an inch in Ballard County, as well as western McCracken County and south of Dexter in Calloway County. Winds exceeding 50 miles per hour knocked down trees along Highway 286 at Gage Road in Ballard County.

Sunday morning's round of storms brought 1.75-inch hail to the New Burnside community northeast of Vienna in southern Illinois. More one-inch hail fell around Carbondale and Jackson County, along with damaging winds that brought down several trees in Herrin and power lines near Rend Lake.
