A 13-year-old girl was hit and injured as she tried to cross Lone Oak Road on Thursday.

Paducah Police said the crash happened just before Noon near the intersection of Lone Oak Road and Mohawk Drive. Witnesses told police that the girl crossed the northbound lanes to get to the center turn lane. As she paused there, they said traffic in the left southbound lane stopped to let her continue across. The witnesses said the juvenile started to cross the southbound lanes in front of the stopped cars, but as she entered the second outbound lane she was struck by a vehicle.

The 29-year-old driver of that vehicle told police she did not see the girl.

The juvenile was transported to the hospital for treatment but was later flown to an out-of-state hospital.
