The Department of Energy has awarded a grant totaling $2 million to the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber will use the grant from DOE's Office of Environmental Management to formulate and better understand future uses for the site of the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
Community studies, data analysis, strategy development, and site mapping are all things covered by the funding.
The grant covers a roughly two-and-a-half-year window from now until the end of 2025.
Joel Bradburne, Manager Portsmouth and Paducah Project Office, said, "Placing the future vision of the former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in the hands of the community allows DOE to align cleanup strategies to promote sustainable redevelopment."
