On the last day of school for Carlisle County Elementary, West Kentucky Star awarded Teacher of the Year to Carleigh O’Neill. What made this day a little sweeter was seeing the excitement of a big check. Thanks to award sponsor Scott Walker Construction, the prize is now $500! A real check, not just the big check for photos!
"I’m happy to see teachers get some extra oomph! Every month we hear teachers say they will spend their prize money on their classrooms. It was time we upped the prize!” said Chris Morgan of Scott Walker Construction.
Ms. O’Neill became the 4th West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Year after winning September’s Teacher of the Month. You can read her winner’s article HERE.
Thank you to Carlisle Superintendent Tom Radivonyk and Elementary Principal Kate Lambert for bringing a crowd to surprise Ms. O’Neill; it even included dad Brian O’Neill, a teacher at the high school.
With the 4th year concluded, the award will take a summer break then return for the 5th year with the September Teacher of the Month. You can check the WestKentuckyStar.com CONTEST tab in August for information on nominating teachers for the 26-27 school year.
